Privacy Policy

Diepen is a focus timer. This page explains, plainly, what stays on your device, what leaves it, and why.

Effective August 26, 2026

01

The short version

Your focus sessions are stored on your device. There's no account, no login, and no third-party analytics or advertising trackers anywhere in Diepen. Two features send data off-device, and both are described in full below: the optional AI Weekly Report (aggregate numbers only, never raw dates or identifiers) and subscription purchases (handled by RevenueCat and Apple, not by us directly).

02

Data we hold, and where

Everything you enter into Diepen — session history, project tags, preferences, streaks — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not operate a server that stores your session history.

Data typeStoredLeaves device?
Session start/end times, durationsOn-device onlyNever
Project tags you createOn-device onlyNever
App preferences (sounds, reminders)On-device onlyNever
Weekly report aggregatesOn-device onlyAnonymized, see §03
Purchase/subscription statusRevenueCat + AppleYes, see §04

If you export your data (Settings → Export), a CSV file is generated on your device and handed to iOS's native share sheet — where it goes from there is entirely your choice.

03

How the AI Weekly Report works

Diepen can generate a short, AI-written summary of your focus patterns once a week. Producing it requires sending some of your session data to OpenAI's API — but only a stripped-down, aggregated version of it:

Sent to OpenAINever sent
Session count for the weekCalendar dates or timestamps
Durations, in minutesDevice identifiers
Hour-of-day as a number (e.g. 14)Your name or email
Day-of-week as a name (e.g. "Tuesday")Location data
Your project tag namesAny other app's data
Whether each session was completed

This feature only activates once you've logged at least three completed sessions in a week, and only ever covers the most recent seven days. If the request fails, or you haven't used the app enough that week, Diepen falls back to a plain statistical summary computed entirely on-device — no network call at all.

OpenAI processes this data to generate your report and, per their API terms, does not use API data to train their models.
04

Subscriptions & RevenueCat

Diepen Pro purchases are processed by Apple and managed with RevenueCat, a subscription-infrastructure provider. RevenueCat receives your purchase receipt and an anonymous app-user identifier so it can tell Diepen whether your subscription is active — it does not receive your name, email, or session data.

See RevenueCat's own privacy policy for how they handle this data on their end.

05

Notifications

Session-completion alerts, daily reminders, and smart suggestions are scheduled entirely on your device using Apple's local notification system. Nothing about your notification content or timing is sent to any server — there's no push-notification backend involved.

06

What we don't do

07

Your controls

From Settings, you can export all of your data as a CSV file at any time, or permanently delete everything Diepen has stored — both your local database and any iCloud copy, if sync is enabled on your account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

08

Children

Diepen is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone in that age group.

09

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, we'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you inside the app.
